Disney Aspire Graduate Puts a Passion and Dream Career in Conservation Within Reach

Earlier this month, we introduced Disney Planet Possible.
Our company’s commitment to taking action to help change our planet’s story. Every day, our employees and cast members do their part to support a healthier planet for people and wildlife. Disney Aspire, our education investment program for hourly employees, is one way some of our employees have earned degrees in sustainability and conservation, take these skills, and apply their knowledge to their careers.
Becca Ziegler is a Water Sciences Dive Master at The Seas in EPCOT. As part of her role, she educates guests on water conservation topics within the park. “I have always been drawn to nature. Especially the ocean, ever since I was little. The older I got, the more I dove into science and learning about the world around me. The more I learned, the more I felt drawn to conservation projects,” shares Becca.
Becca’s role directly ties into our company’s mission to imagine a world in balance. As she creates experiences that inspire connection with our planet and all who call it home. Becca states that “something is renewing about being in nature. The scent of a fresh sea breeze, the cool air of the mountains, the still of the desert, and the sound of wind through the trees in the forest. That I want others to experience.”
In earning her Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) through Disney Aspire, she hopes to pursue leadership opportunities. Within the company’s environmental and conversation teams. While Becca is still mapping out what that might look like. She leaves one piece of advice for women looking to follow a similar path.
“I would recommend that any young woman aspiring to break into marine science or the sciences find other women. Along the way to mentor and guide them. Don’t give up!”
