7 Things You’ll Love About Our Sicily Adventure

Ciao, adventurers! If you haven’t heard yet, we recently announced our brand new 2023 Adventures by Disney itinerary for Sicily! There are some enchanting activities lined up for this adventure, ranging from puppetry to snorkeling, as you visit cities including Palermo, Siracusa, Taormina, and more. Here’s a closer look at some of our favorite highlights that you would experience during the Sicily Land Adventure.
1. A Grande Tour of Teatro Massimo
Who doesn’t love a trip to the theater? Our Sicily Land Adventure begins in the beautiful city of Palermo. Here, you will experience Teatro Massimo –Italy’s largest theatre–during a private guided tour that will take you backstage to explore this historic venue built-in 1897.
2. The Art of Ceramics in Caltagirone
Time to channel your inner artist. In the city of Caltagirone, you will see and experience traditional Sicilian art at a Caltagirone ceramics studio. Not only will you observe artisans demonstrate their craft. But you will also get to create your own ceramic works to take home with you!
3. Puppet Experience at Teatro dei Pupi
Ever wonder what it’s like to be a puppeteer? As a guest on our Sicily Land Adventure, you’ll find out! While in Siracusa, you will visit the Teatro Dei Pupi, a local family-owned theater carrying on the historic Sicilian tradition known as Opera dei Pupi (puppet theatre). This UNESCO Cultural Intangible Heritage List experience includes a private puppet workshop, backstage tour, puppet museum tour, and special puppet show.
4. Off-Road Tour of Mount Etna
Let’s switch gears and talk about an adventure through the terrain surrounding Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest and most active volcano! On an off-road vehicle tour, you will see the Sicilian villages that make up the base of Mount Etna, walk through the vast Ox Valley and explore the natural lava tubes formed by the volcano.
5. Lunch at Barone Villagrande Winery and Wine Tasting
Lunch with a view? Yes, please! The Barone Villagrande Winery has been family-owned and operated for 10 generations. During your visit, you will have the chance to enjoy this beautiful estate for a delicious lunch and winery tour. Adults will also take part in a wine tasting while Junior Adventurers taste other Italian delicacies from the region!
6. A Boat and Snorkel Excursion Around Isola Bella
Time for some sun and a swim! While staying in Taormina, you will embark on a privately chartered boat to sail around the beautiful Isola Bella and discover its majestic Blue Caves. Then, it’s time to go for a swim in the beautiful blue waters by the island as part of a snorkeling experience.
7. A Walk Through the Valley of the Temples
Experience Sicilian history on our trip to the Valley of the Temples, an archaeological site made up of the ruins of seven ancient temples. Guided by a local expert, you will walk through the impressive, classical monuments of this one-of-a-kind UNESCO World Heritage Site.
