Cast Members Join the Disney Wish Christening Celebration

This week marked an exciting occasion for our Disney Cruise Line cast and crew members. As the Disney Wish, the fifth and newest ship in our fleet was officially christened at Port Canaveral!
This unforgettable celebration featured musical performances and our very special guests… the Disney Wish godchildren from Make-A-Wish. Several lucky Port Canaveral Disney cast members enjoyed front-row seats at the ceremony.
Noreen Joyce, Port Cruise Rep, couldn’t contain her excitement, saying, “We were in the front row! It was such an amazing adventure for me today. I basically cried through the whole thing.”
Port Cruise Rep Barbara Birkefeld has been with Disney Cruise Line for more than 20 years and said the event also brought her to tears. “I was so overwhelmed, even though I’ve had the opportunity to see all of our ships. It truly touched my heart and I can’t wait to send guests aboard.”
After the ceremony and a welcoming wave to the crew on board, the cast quickly changed into costume to support our Christening Cruise guests as they prepared for embarkation!
Meanwhile, teams gathered for watch parties and toasts throughout Disney Cruise Line office spaces in Celebration, FL. Those who were not able to join the event in person celebrated the Disney Wish with a live viewing of the ceremony.
Cheers to these dedicated cast members who assist our guests with their Disney Cruise Line vacations!
The anticipation continues to grow as we sail closer and closer to the Disney Wish maiden voyage on July 14. If you didn’t have the opportunity to tune in live for the Disney Wish christening, be sure to check out the video below!
