Disney Cruise Line’s ‘Wishes Set Sail’ Program Helps Children in Port Communities

In celebration of the Disney Wish’s inaugural sailings, Disney Cruise Line launched its “Wishes Set Sail” program. An all-new initiative developed to support various youth activities in key port communities.
The program was announced at two recent plaques and key exchange ceremonies that marked the Disney Wish’s first call to Port Canaveral and Nassau Cruise Port. During these special events, Disney leaders announced that Junior Achievement Bahamas and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida Brevard County Branches are the first initiatives to receive donations as part of this impactful campaign.
Programs by JA Bahamas help students understand the economic world and business fundamentals. While also exploring career opportunities and developing work-readiness skills. Earmarked for Abaco, Eleuthera, and Nassau, Disney Cruise Line’s donation will support programs focused on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, college preparedness, and work readiness. Disney Cruise Line has previously partnered with JA Bahamas in the form of programmatic funding and scholarships.
The Walt Disney Company enjoys a long-time partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. Which aims to provide a safe place to learn and grow for more than 7,000 at-risk children throughout the region. Funding for the Brevard County Clubs will support education and career development programs. With a special emphasis on the maritime and hospitality industries.

And “Wishes Set Sail” is just getting started! In total, Disney Cruise Line will distribute $400,000 to local youth organizations. Throughout the Disney Wish’s inaugural season as part of this campaign.
I am pleased to share that “Wishes Set Sail” continues Disney Cruise Line’s dedication to inspiring youth to pursue maritime careers. For example, onboard the Disney Wish and the Disney Wonder, Captain Minnie Mouse leads young captain hopefuls in an all-new onboard marine-themed STEM activity. Additionally, Disney Cruise Line developed a scholarship program. In partnership with the LJM Maritime Academy in Nassau for female cadets aspiring to become ship captains and shipboard leaders. The scholarships include tuition for the three-year program. Two years of study at the academy and one year of service aboard a Disney ship.
Stay tuned for more announcements about more “Wishes Set Sail” donations coming soon!
