We have good news to share!
Earlier today, the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command announced the 2022 DoD Warrior Games are planned to take place in Central Florida. And, there is no better stage for these valiant competitors. To show the world their grit and determination than at Walt Disney World Resort!
Disney shares a deep appreciation for the Armed Forces, their families, and veterans. It’s an appreciation that started with Walt and Roy and has continued throughout our nearly 100-year history. We’re honored to continue that proud tradition by welcoming these heroic wounded warriors, and their families to the Most Magical Place on Earth for this inspiring competition.
Hundreds of elite athletes from across the United States Armed Forces and allied nations will be fiercely competing at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. In events such as wheelchair basketball, cycling, indoor rowing, and many more. We can’t wait to cheer for them and celebrate with their families.
As a U.S. Navy veteran, I believe these games truly embody and celebrate the resiliency and dedication of wounded, ill, and injured active duty and veteran military service members. These games also afford the opportunity for families, friends, and supporters. To witness these incredible veterans shine as they display their true warrior spirit through competitive sports. Support for those who serve in uniform is part of our Disney DNA. And I’m proud the company is donating the venue and services for this uplifting event
Additionally, as part of our legacy of support for military service, we’re also excited to share that we will host the 2022 Veterans Institute Summit presented by Disney Institute on Aug. 19-20 also at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. The summit is designed to empower companies to build effective veteran hiring, training, and support of their own. The two-day forum will include speakers from Disney’s Heroes Work Here initiative, U.S. government officials, veterans, and military spouses, among many others.
Stay tuned as we share more information on the 2022 DoD Warrior Games and the Veterans Institute Summit soon. In the meantime, please join us in thanking all the brave servicemembers and Veterans for their service.
