5 Favs for Tweens Visiting Walt Disney World Resort This Spring
Originally published at Disney Parks News
Ah, springtime – the season when flowers are blooming, the weather is fantastic and a trip to Walt Disney World Resort sounds perfect. With so much to do with your tweens in our parks and resorts, creating your Must-Do list might seem a bit overwhelming. But have no fear, that’s why we are here with five activities that will make this an unforgettable trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
1. Put your gaming skills to the test.
You know that adrenaline rush you and your tween get on a rollercoaster drop? Now imagine that same feeling while you’re competing for the highest score in a game that puts your precision, speed, and concentration to the test. Our favorite toys are sure to guarantee some competitive family fun with two attractions that are a MUST whenever I visit the Parks: Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom Park and Toy Story Mania! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
And while playing solo is always fun, there’s no denying that teamwork makes the dream work! Get ready to put your entire family to the test as you step into the famous Millennium Falcon. Whether you’re a pilot, engineer, or gunner, every role is crucial to complete your Smugglers Run mission.
2. Extend the magic with Play Disney Parks.
Don’t you sometimes wish you could learn more about the different lands at Walt Disney World? Maybe go on a quest of your own to become a bounty hunter or even a priceless-treasure collector? Well, let me tell you about my favorite app when visiting the parks. It’s called Play Disney Parks, an innovative mobile app that brings surrounding environments to life with activities and challenges that your tween will absolutely love.
For example, over at EPCOT World Showcase you can join Scrooge McDuck, his nephews, and friends on a quacky quest to find 7 Lost Magic Treasures. Which are hidden in the countries around World Showcase.
And that’s just one of many adventures that awaits you on Play Disney Parks. The best part of it all is that you can enhance your experience by bundling the mobile app with a MagicBand+ to unlock additional features and gaming capabilities.
3. Strike a pose and make your family photo album POP!
It can be tough convincing your tweens to take endless family photos, but I have some great news for you. A MUST on everyone’s itinerary, regardless of age, is showing off your supermodel skills by posing in front of our Disney Walls. These murals have become a staple, and even a trending topic in social media due to their vibrant colors, different themes, and sometimes secret locations. Need a couple of options? I’ve got your back:
- Purple Wall at Magic Kingdom Park
- Bubble Gum Wall at EPCOT
- You Are Most Beautiful Wall at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
- Tatooine Traders Wall at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
4. Submerge into a world beyond your wildest imagination.
If you and your tweens are looking for mesmerizing live entertainment, the options are endless. Journey into Mickey Mouse’s dream with “Fantasmic!” or show off your best roar at the “Festival of the Lion King.” You’ll want to watch these and other live performances again and again.
And the magic doesn’t stop once you exit our four theme parks. Get ready to journey into a world where an animator’s desk becomes the stage and drawings come alive in Drawn to Life Presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney. Tweens are mesmerized by the aerial artistry and acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil. Blended with the magical storytelling of Walt Disney Animation.
The best part? This is just one of the many things Disney Springs has to offer. A place with the perfect balance to shop, dine and play to your heart’s content.
5. Shop ’til you drop!
