Disney Springs Art Walk Celebrates A World of Voices

The first art installations have begun at the Disney Springs Art Walk, A Canvas of Expression.
We’re looking forward to the ongoing transformation of this experience. As more artists bring their work and stories to share with guests. In the spirit of sharing stories, we also continue to celebrate A World of Voices this May. During Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Around Disney Springs, we’re shining the spotlight on our talented cast members and honoring their communities through experiences, entertainment, and food and beverage offerings. Some of these offerings will continue beyond May, including this incredible work of art by the wife and husband team of Stacey Aoyama and Eric Tan – who are also fellow cast members – featured at the Disney Springs Art Walk.
This piece is inspired by the artists’ families and pays homage to the respective journeys that they took to build their lives in America. Stacey and Eric chose to represent their countries of origin in their art – the Philippines, Japan, and France. The last panel represents America and how their families continue to evolve and grow with each new generation.
Stacey, Eric, and their daughter call California home.
– Stacey grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and Eric in San Diego. Eric was raised on Disney Animation, Star Wars, and Marvel comics. And after watching “The Jungle Book” at the age of three he discovered his passion for art. Stacey grew up with big dreams and many career ambitions. Including astronaut, ballerina, orthodontist (and more); however her consistent passion for drawing and being creative prevailed, and she is now an illustrator and designer with Disney Consumer Products. Eric is a graduate of Art Center College of Design and has been a designer for over 20 years, also with Disney Consumer Products.
As artists and members of the Disney family, Stacey and Eric are all too familiar with magic and storytelling.
For Stacey, magic happens when she’s transported by a movie, a piece of art, or music to a place of imagination and happiness. She shared that she is constantly in awe of the magic of creativity and its ability to inspire and connect people. Eric shared that with him. Magic is when something special happens that brings a smile to your face and excitement into your heart.
We are grateful to this talented duo for sharing their collective voices with us. Bringing a bit of their unique magic to Disney Springs. Be sure to stop by the Disney Springs Art Walk to see Eric and Stacey’s piece. And stay tuned for more artists, coming soon. Share your selfies or snaps of the artwork with #DSArtWalk.
