#DisneyCastLife: Welcoming Back the Disneyland Monorail
Originally published at Disney Parks News
Last Friday, Disneyland Resort celebrated the long-awaited return of the iconic Disneyland Monorail! The beloved “highway in the sky” flew around the park much to the delight of its adoring passengers, treating each guest to the one-of-a-kind views that have been dearly missed.
Cast members at the Tomorrowland station were among the thrilled fans, and we asked each of them to try and describe their excitement in only a few words.
We also had a unique, behind-the-scenes opportunity to speak with Peter, an electrician who makes sure every guest has a smooth ride on the monorail. Peter has worked on the monorail for the majority of his #DisneyCastLife, so we made sure to find out his favorite part about working on the attraction, and how it feels to finally bring this piece of magic back to our guests.
Q: How long have you been a cast member?
A: I’ve been a cast member here for almost 32 years now.
Q: What’s your favorite part about being a cast member?
A: All the experiences I’ve been able to take in: working with different people, working on different rides, and learning. I’ve been an electrician since I was 20, so I’ve been doing this for a little bit. It’s a job like no other.
Q: You’ve been working on the Disneyland Monorail for about 12 years now. What do you like about it?
A: Working on the Disneyland Monorail is like nothing else in the Park. It’s not as easy as “1-2-3”, that’s for sure. Everything is about understanding how everything works. That’s really important.
Q: How does it feel to finally bring the Disneyland Monorail back after over a year?
A: It feels good. It’s a good thing. It feels good that our team is coming back with the camaraderie that we have here. We like to have fun up here.
