Disneyland Resort Honors Black Music Month with Special Celebrate Soulfully Experiences

Celebrate Soulfully at Disney Parks invites guests to celebrate with experiences that honor Black heritage and culture through music, food, art, and more.
Following the introduction of Celebrate Soulfully at the Disneyland Resort in Feb., You can continue the festivities with special experiences and entertainment. Highlighting Black Music Month in June! Below you will find some of the limited-time Celebrate Soulfully offerings to enjoy from now through July 4, 2022.
These limited-time offerings are in addition to ongoing Celebrate Soulfully experiences. Such as the new staging of “Tale of the Lion King,” the latest menu at Troubadour Tavern, training with the Dora Milaje – the royal guard of Wakanda – at Avengers Campus, and joining Princess Tiana for a fairytale meal during Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at Napa Rose restaurant and more.
Keep the Summer Vibes Going with Daily Live Music Around the Resort
Enjoy daily live performances across the Disneyland Resort. Highlighting genres such as Doo-Wop, Motown, funk, reggae, and others.
At Disney California Adventure park, enjoy Philly Phonics. An acapella vocal group that performs jazzy tunes from the 1920s through today. In addition, Five & Dime stylishly sings and swings the 1920s and ‘30s tunes with brass and sass.
In the evening, the summer vibes continue at Disney California Adventure. With a block party atmosphere in the Hollywood Backlot. Seven nights a week, guests can dance under the stars. As live musical acts perform on the Hollywood Backlot Stage. Featured acts include Midnight Hour. A group offering the best sounds of Motown, and Urban Music Society, an eight-piece R&B and funk band.
In the Downtown Disney District, Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen features a jazz pianist nightly. The Downtown Disney LIVE! stage showcases musical entertainment covering a range of genres. With groups including the Singers of Soul, LALA Brass, Denean’s Soul Foundation, and more. Plus, on Saturdays and Sundays, a DJ plays upbeat hits. Near the stage, guests can also enjoy a family craft activity and contribute to a music-themed mural.
Each afternoon at GCH Craftsman Bar, overlooking the pool at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Guests can sway to the soul-soothing sounds of Jamaican, Afro-Cuban, and reggae music from performers such as Island Reggae.

Enjoy the New Staging of “Tale of the Lion King” in Disneyland Park
At Disneyland park, “Tale of the Lion King” is running Thursday through Monday at the Fantasyland Theatre. “Tale of the Lion King” is narrated by The Storytellers of the Pride Lands. A traveling troupe that uses dialogue, song, dance, and live percussion. To re-enact the tale of how a timid lion cub became a powerful king. As guests rediscover Simba’s journey, they’ll enjoy unique arrangements of treasured songs. Including “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” Every aspect of “Tale of the Lion King,” from the scenic and costume designs to choreography and integration of Swahili dialogue and lyrics. Honors and draws inspiration from the cultural roots of this timeless story.
Experience the “The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure” at the Downtown Disney District for a Limited Time
You can now visit “The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure,” a touring exhibit that illustrates the legacy and dynamic history of jazz, at the Downtown Disney District through July 4. Located in the building adjacent to Star Wars Trading Post, the exhibit is open from noon to 8 p.m. daily and is complimentary to all.
In the exhibit, Joe Gardner – musician, mentor, and star of Disney and Pixar’s original animated film, “Soul” – takes guests on a musical tour across America. As a tribute to a musical art form that originated by African Americans, the exhibit illustrates the many different cultures and creators who influenced this ever-evolving genre. Walt Disney Imagineering partnered with cultural institutions and subject matter experts to bring this story to life.
Unique to this presentation of “The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure,” guests can discover photographs highlighting the legacy of jazz at Disneyland Resort.
Delight in Special Dining Across the Resort
Troubadour Tavern in Disneyland park has introduced a new menu with items including the chicken-coconut curry sweet potato, berbere-spiced popcorn and the Pride Rock Punch.
Award Wieners at Disney California Adventure infuses soul food flavors in its new foot-long BBQ pulled pork dog and peaches and cream funnel cake fries, available now through Sept. 2.
Local, Black-owned food trucks are offering delicious dining at the Downtown Disney District through July 4. Embrace the heat with Bred Nashville Hot Chicken or cool off with a frozen treat from Happy Ice!
In addition to its Creole cuisine dishes, Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen in the Downtown Disney District is offering a signature drink through July 4 as smooth and sweet as the music: a peach pie old-fashioned featuring Uncle Nearest whiskey.
At Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the GCH Craftsman Bar is featuring two limited-time menu items: a surf and turf – jerk-seasoned beef tenderloin skewers and coconut shrimp with raspberry rum sauce – and a special summer cocktail, also available through July 4.
