Good journey, friends! Cast members at Walt Disney World welcome guests into our captivating stories each day, and today we’re proud to spotlight a Disney leader who is out of this galaxy. Adarius is a Guest Experience Manager supporting the crew aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a two-night, immersive experience that takes passengers on a Star Wars adventure that is all their own.
Adarius started his Disney journey in 2017 as a part-time attractions host at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and says he was overjoyed at the opportunity to join the company he was inspired to work for from a young age. “Disney allows you to have the creativity to make a difference and see the difference.” Adarius’ hard work and joyful spirit led him to the opening team of Toy Story Land, Disney Skyliner and now Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser where he helps create the unexpected to excite and delight passengers every day.
Adarius helped launch the innovative experience as a coordinator, working alongside and helping the crew, and is now eager to celebrate the one-year anniversary on March 1 as a leader on the team. To anyone inspired to start a career with Disney, Adarius shared a great piece of advice:
“Don’t be afraid to take roads you didn’t imagine.” He never thought starting from an attractions role in one of our theme parks that he would end up leading a crew in space aboard Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
Adarius said he stays motivated to come to work each day because the Halcyon starcruiser is so special to him. Not only does he get to know the passengers on a deep level to make genuine connections, but he also feels a sense of representation aboard the ship. “The fact that ‘my boss’ is a bold, proud, Black woman makes me feel so good,” he said about Cruise Director Lenka Mok who leads the Halcyon starcruiser’s journey. “When we have guests that come and see that representation, it’s deeper than you think. Black women are crucial to our culture and being able to see that every day, I can connect with her on so many levels.”
Adarius continued that Disney’s dedication to welcoming all guests into their stories and experiences reminds him of what drew him to the company from the beginning. “It’s important to see yourself represented,” he said. It brings him joy when he’s among guests and fellow crew. He says that it helps him “sustain the magic, wonder, and distinctly Disney service to guests.”
Adarius hopes that anyone who wants to work for Disney continues to reach for the stars to make their dreams come true. We’re so grateful for cast members like Adarius who go above and beyond to bring our stories to life through their passion and joy for their roles!
