Ideas for Celebrating Mother’s Day at Disney Parks

Originally published at Disney Parks News

This weekend we celebrate all the moms in our lives. Those who have raised us, shaped us and sure … maybe those who have corrected us along the way. The planDisney panelists are sharing some tips on celebrating with the mom in your life at some of their favorite Disney destinations.

For some moms, nothing says Happy Mother’s Day like flowers. And we know where you can take her to enjoy the most gorgeous flowers! UK panelist Jane thinks there is no better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with a fun day spent exploring all the gorgeous topiaries, unique garden area, and food offerings at the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival (currently being offered through July 4th). “Of course, I’d highly recommend the United Kingdom Pavilion where guests can visit the English Tea Garden, presented by Twinings of London,” added Jane.

Flowers, tea … now how about some attractions. Whether your mom is a thrill-seeker, or she enjoys the more relaxing side of a Disney vacation we have some great suggestions for an afternoon in the parks with mom. Panelist Ana Paula says that some of her favorite memories with her mom include travels on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, the Carousel of Progress, Peter Pan’s Flight, and even a hauntingly good time on the Haunted Mansion. All excellent choices, Ana Paula!

planDisney Pro Tip: Remember to stop by guest relations, or your resort’s front desk, to grab your mom a celebration button on Mother’s Day. Letting everyone know how special she is to you and your family.

Ahhh relaxation! Many moms live for just a sampling of that word, and we have found the perfect location to send your mom to receive not only relaxation but also massages, exfoliation, and many more luxurious treatments. Have you guessed the spot? It would be none other than The Grand Floridian Spa located at Walt Disney World Resort. Plan a day for mom to enjoy by herself or book a mother/kiddo Grand Manicure and Pedicure treatment like panelist Jackie did with her daughter! The two were able to enjoy each other’s company all while being pampered.

Moms visiting the Disneyland Resort can also find amazing spa treatments at Tenaya Stone Spa located in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

Should you and your mom be sailing the high seas with Disney Cruise Line on Mother’s Day, Adrianna wants to make sure you don’t miss a special brunch at Palo. “This brunch at sea will make for a memorable Mother’s Day. Just don’t be surprised if Mom requests a new tradition of a Disney Cruise every May,” says Adrianna.

Is your mom a sporty mom? Then why not plan a non-traditional outing with mom, like Ashley F. likes to do with her mom, and sign up for a runDisney race? She and her mom made the decision to give it a try and signed up for the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend as her Mother’s Day gift. That is what we call a special memory!

planDisney Pro Tip: Whether running a race or racing each other on the Tomorrowland Speedway, don’t forget to capture some amazing photos with Disney PhotoPass.

“I truly cherish my trips to Disneyland Resort with my mom and daughters. Whether I’m there on a fast-paced adventure trip with my girls or a slower-paced entertainment-and-snacks trip with my mom. One thing we love to do on every trip is stopping at the many Disney PhotoPass locations to take pics! Some pics are silly, some are cute, some include squeezy hugs, some have Magic Shots (be sure to ask the photographer for these) and ALL of them make my heart smile when I scroll through my camera roll months after our trips. There are dozens of PhotoPass locations, so stop at as many as you can for a Disney photo safari with mom! You can find the locations in the Disneyland mobile app,” said Kamini.

There truly are so many options for special mom-moments at Disney Parks for this special day. From spa treatments to fine dining and pool time at the resort to shopping at Disney Springs. But perhaps panelist, and mom, Adrianna sums it up best … “On Mother’s Day, let mom choose the itinerary for the day. The only rule is that mom gets to decide everything … every attraction, show, snack, and meal. After all, ‘Mother knows best!”

Here’s to you, mom!
