Inclusion Spotlight at Hong Kong Disneyland
Originally published at Disney Parks News
Late last month, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort hosted its first-ever Inclusion Spotlight – a two-day, resort-wide event bringing together a host of learning opportunities and interactive experiences. Welcoming cast members from all corners of the resort, the event was comprised of workshops and speaker sessions to champion diversity and to continue providing an educational platform around the importance of inclusion.
Featuring seven keynote sessions covering a host of inclusion opportunities, challenges and experiences, as well as a “Courage to Lead” workshop, each aspect of this two-day event was an opportunity to enable leaders to better embody courage and inclusiveness in addition to working to create a workplace where everyone feels comfortable being their authentic self.
Did you know that cast here at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort originate from 38 countries and regions, speak 25 languages in total, and span across four generations? A special “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lab” was set up during the Inclusion Spotlight with various booths and performance areas, where cast members could learn about the different cultures represented at the resort in the form of interactive games, dances and cultural artifacts. It also featured a host of activities as well as feedback opportunities for cast members to voice their own ideas on inclusion and how this core value can be implemented across the resort.
Since the introduction of the Inclusion Key, Hong Kong Disneyland has focused on a number of significant inclusion milestones, including the reimagining of our Disney Look, which has been received exceptionally well from cast members, as well as the formation of our new Inclusion Advisory Council, which is comprised of cast members from different cultures, backgrounds, expertise and priorities. This Inclusion Advisory Council is at the forefront of our efforts to cultivate the resort’s continued endeavor to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and accounted for within their workplace.
As we continue to place inclusion at the heart of everything that we do, we are excited to find even more ways to make a tangible and positive impact on Cast Life, creating a place where everyone belongs!
