Between the changing seasons, the harvest festivals, and for those that celebrate, the Halloween charades, there’s something so charming about autumn. This October has a special charm to it as we celebrate National Adopt-A-Dog Month through our collaboration with the San Diego Humane Society!

San Diego Humane Society is an independent nonprofit organization that cares for more than 40,000 shelter animals annually. Its central priority is supporting the welfare of animals and the people who care for them, which it works to do by creating safety nets for pet owners, providing animal services for 14 cities, and sharing its expertise with shelters nationwide to promote a more compassionate world.

We couldn’t be happier to support San Diego Humane Society in its mission—and to present some of the sweetest dogs all dressed up for the holiday in their new pet costumes from shopDisney

Look at how spook-tacular these pups are in their Halloween ‘fits.

San Diego Humane Society is in the care of hundreds of dogs just begging to meet their loving new families in time for trick-or-treat amusement. For those seeking a new companion, this is your sign: You can find all the dogs currently available for adoption listed on San Diego Humane Society’s “Available Pets” page

Interested in a different animal? You can also find cats, reptiles, rodents, small animals, and so many more in need of finding their forever homes today. Not in the San Diego area but looking to adopt? Search for local animal shelters, rescues, or Humane Societies near you. And in the spirit of the season, don’t overlook our furry friends who appear a little older, wobblier, or peculiar at first glance. They’re just as eager for your love!

If you’re not ready to be a full-time pet parent, there are other ways you can support the cause today. Register for a foster animal, volunteer your skills, become a donor, or ask if you can gift your local shelter some supplies, to start. There are so many ways to help, and animal welfare begins with the people who care about them the most—let’s do what we can to spread the charm and compassion as we kick off the holidays this year.
