Evel Pie Unleashes What’s Touted as “World’s Hottest Pizza”
Originally published at Vital Vegas
Downtown’s Evel Pie is among the best pizza spots in Las Vegas, and now it’s arguably the hottest.
Evel Pie announced a new pizza, “The Reaper,” which the restaurant claims are the “World’s Hottest Pizza.” Odds are it isn’t, but you’re in Las Vegas, so just play along.
The new pizza is made with “Habanero chile sauce, chili pepper-infused mozzarella, sriracha-marinated chorizo sausage, and sliced Habanero peppers.”
In a fun twist, “The Reaper” is delivered to guests while ablaze. The pizza, not the guests.

Claims of the “World’s Hottest Pizza” are dubious, of course, because that would seem to rely upon using the world’s hottest pepper.
According to the all-knowing Internet, that would be the Carolina Reaper, which clocks in at 2.2 million Scoville Heat Units, or SHU. Lowly jalapenos sit at about 2,500 to 8,000 SHU.
Habanero peppers are certainly hot, but register about 100,000 to 350,000 SHU, a far cry from the hottest peppers. Still, not not hot.
For the title of “World’s Hottest Pizza,” Evel Pie is going to have to slug it out with the reigning champs.
There’s another famous pizza called “Death by Pizza” made with 20 Trinidad Moruga Scorpion chilies. Another is called the Fiery Death with Hate Sausage.
This seems a good time to ask. WTF is wrong with people?
Evel Pie is one of our favorite downtown haunts. You sort of can’t miss it.
“The Reaper” isn’t cheap at $49.99, but Evel Pie offers a chance for diners to get it free. With one teensy condition. Anyone who can finish at least three complete slices in 30 minutes receives a “Don’t Fear The Reaper” T-shirt and their name carved into a plaque on “The Wall of Legends.”
We predict Evel Pie isn’t going to have to devote a lot of wall space for its “Wall of Legends.” The walls are already full enough with sweet Evel Knievel memorabilia (hence the name of the place).
Oh, and it probably goes without saying: A legal waiver must be signed before participating in the challenge.
We are personally a weakling when it comes to spicy food. In Thai restaurants, for example, we will sometimes ask a server if “negative two” is a spice level.
Still, when we shared news of “The Reaper” on the Twitters, there were a lot of folks who expressed interest in traumatizing their digestive tract, so more power to them.
Even if you don’t try “The Reaper,” Evel Pie is worth a stop on Fremont East.
Downtown actually has a plethora of great pizza, including Pop-Up at Plaza (try their square pizza inside the hotel’s Sand Dollar Lounge) and Pizza Rock near Downtown Grand. Chicago Brewing Co. also makes a solid pie at Four Queens. Esther’s Kitchen isn’t too far, either.
We’d love to hear if you take on “The Reaper,” and good luck with the challenge, you freak.
