Planet Hollywood Restaurant Closes at Forum Shops

The movie-themed restaurant originally opened in Las Vegas in 1994. That was 29 years ago, or 40 jillion years in “Las Vegas restaurant years.”
Planet Hollywood moved locations in 2012 and slowly faded into obscurity. Much like Mel Gibson, but without all the assholery.
Planet Hollywood restaurant, of course, is not to be confused with Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The irony of Planet Hollywood restaurant not being at Planet Hollywood isn’t lost on anyone.
The Planet Hollywood sign outside Caesars Palace was often a cause of confusion. It went away in 2021, along with all the world’s remaining common sense. Long story.

The Planet Hollywood restaurant chain is owned by Earl Enterprises. The company also operates Buca di Beppo (formerly at Bally’s, now Horseshoe), Earl of Sandwich (at Palms and Planet Hollywood), and Chicken Guy (in collaboration with Guy Fieri, soon to open at Caesars Palace).
The Planet Hollywood brand launched in 1991. With the support of investors and then-superstars Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s biceps.
The company filed for bankruptcy in 1999, as did Arnold Schwarzenegger’s biceps.
The company filed for Chapter 11 again in 2001, because screwing over the little guy isn’t just a one-time thing, it’s a lifestyle.
The luster of the Planet Hollywood brand has faded over time. And we hadn’t heard anything about the Forum Shops restaurant for years, good or bad.
There’s no word yet about what might move into the space.
